Millau, an emblematic city of Aveyron

Millau, a small town of 22,000 inhabitants, will delight you with its charm and quality of life. Renowned for its Gallo-Roman ceramics and glove making, it has seen its fame become international thanks to the famous viaduct. This steel giant is a true architectural feat. He holds the world height record. With its 343 meters, it is higher than the Eiffel Tower.

The city of Millau will also seduce you for all the preserved and authentic sites that surround it. City of Art and History, it is the capital of outdoor sports. It is considered to be the gateway to the Gorges du Tarn and the Causses and Cévennes territory, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Gorges du Tarn

The Grand Site of the Gorges du Tarn, de la Jonte and des Causses, is a 20,000 hectare area over 19 municipalities, which aims to preserve the quality of the landscape and heritage of the site. The objective is to allow you to discover a site that meets your expectations: intact, preserved and welcoming.

In 1999, an inventory carried out placed the Gorges du Tarn site as one of the most remarkable in France for finding the Venus hoof, a wild orchid with yellow and red-brown flowers.

There is also a site classified Natura 2000 (by Europe) concerning birds, where a Special Protection Zone (SPA) has been delimited in the Gorges du Tarn and Jonte over nearly 41,800 ha.
